The PREA Resource Center (PRC) is funded through a cooperative agreement between the Department of Justice's Bureau of Justice Assistance and Impact Justice.
Created in 2010, the PRC serves the corrections field by assisting state, local, and tribal agencies in implementing the PREA Standards and by supporting the Department of Justice (DOJ) PREA audit function.
The PRC’s training and technical assistance initiatives provide crucial guidance to state, local, and tribal agencies as they work to achieve sexual safety and implement the PREA Standards in their facilities, including adult prisons and jails, juvenile facilities, community confinement facilities, lockups, and tribal facilities. The PRC serves as an essential hub of information and resources for agencies working to implement the PREA Standards. It connects agencies to free training and technical assistance offered through the Site-Based Technical Assistance program upon request and maintains a robust library of resources. Learn more about implementing the PREA Standards.
For the PREA Standards to advance sexual safety in confinement, they must be accompanied by a strong audit function. The PRC supports the DOJ PREA audit by by maintaining the audit instrument and assisting with the training and ongoing support of DOJ-certified PREA auditors.
